National Council for Cement and Building Material (NCCBM) under the leadership of Dr B N Mohapatra had its new X-Ray Diffraction Laboratory (XRD) inaugurated by Dr. Bipin Prakash Thapliyal, director, Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute (CPPRI), Saharanpur on 19 August 2020. The event included several eminent personalities namely, Dr A K Dixit (Scientist E-II, CPPRI), Sh. Ramsarup (retired Sr. deputy secretary, CSIR (HQ)), and Sh. Ashok K Razdan (Ex-COA, CISR). The new XRD laboratory directs its services to cater challenges of cement industries and construction sectors. The new facility will be providing qualitative and quantitative analysis of all the minerals using the expertise of NCB-staff and its state of art instrument (Rigaku Smartlab). X- Ray diffraction studies has the widest application in cement and construction sectors, which includes studies on concrete, building materials, raw material for cement manufacturing and quality assessment. NCCBM with its continuous upgradation of research and testing instruments strive to stand and serve needs of industries.
