Hackathon “CemHack for Green Infra”
Shri Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Govt. of India launched #hackathon “#CemHack for #Green #Infra” in presence of Prof K K Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee; Shri Neeraj Akhoury, Chairman-NCB and MD-Shree Cement Ltd. and Dr L P Singh, DG-NCB on the completion of first year of National Council for Cement & Building Materials-Incubation Centre (NCB-IC) after its establishment.
Shri Sanjiv also interacted with StartUps incubated at NCB-IC. He also felicitated the joint team of NCB-IIT Roorkee-JKCement for receiving project grant by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for establishing CCU test bed in cement sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjiv, JS-DPIIT complimented #NCB Incubation Centre in organising the hackathon for cement and construction sector on the completion of its establishment. He desired that the reputed institutes and colleges like IITs, NITs, technical universities, should be encouraged for maximum participation in this hackathon. He hoped to see success stories from startups incubated at NCB.
Prof. K K Pant, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee complimented NCB for organising this hackathon, which brings a unique opportunity for students, research scholars, researchers for showcasing their innovative ideas and get support from industry. He informed that IIT Roorkee is collaborating with NCB on plasma based electrification and carbon capture & utilization (#CCU) in cement sector.
Shri Neeraj Akhoury, Chairman-NCB and Managing Director-Shree Cement Ltd. emphasized that the Indian Cement Industry is at the forefront of adopting newer technologies and innovation. Shree Cement Ltd. signed MoU with StartUp India last year and will be supporting NCB in successful organization and supporting the winners of this hackathon.
Dr Lok Pratap Singh, Director General, NCB stated that the purpose of organising hackathon to promote innovation in cement and construction sector. He also highlighted the endeavours of #NCB towards Net Zero in cement industry including collaboration with Swedish technology providers, award of project grant to a consortium of NCB-IIT Roorkee-J K Cement Ltd. by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India on establishing CCU test beds in cement sector etc. He also showcased the outline to establish Centre of Excellence at NCB Ballabgarh on CCU in cement sector.
Dr. Kapil Kukreja, GM & Incharge-NCB-IC briefed about the hackathon and activities of NCB-IC.
The registration of #Hackathon “#CemHack for #Green #Infra” has started from 📅20th May 2025 and will continue till 📅20th July 2025. The hackathon will begin on 12th August 2025 and finale will be on 30th October 2025 with many intermediate rounds of evaluation.
