  • One day Workshop on Cement and Concrete Roads held on 2 May 2008 in New Delhi concluded successfully with the participation of over 100 delegates.


  • The Workshop was organized jointly by  Cement  Manufacturers’ Association (CMA)  and National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB)


·         Organizations which participated in the Workshop included PWDs of Delhi, Haryana and U.P., MES-Delhi and Chandigarh,  Border Roads Organization (BRO), E-in-C’s Branch, New Delhi, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, PMGSY Sub-divn- Karnataka, UP State Highways Authority, Rural Road Development Agencies of Karnataka, Uttaranchal and West Bengal, Delhi Tourism & Transporation Development Corporation, NTPC, IRCON International, Central Building Research Institute, Central Soil and Materials Research Station, cement companies and consultancy organizations in private sector.


  • The Workshop was inaugurated by Shri G Sharan, Director General (Road Development), Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways and the Key Note Address was delivered by Dr L R Kadiyali, Chief Executive, L R Kadiyali & Associates.


  • Eight lectures were delivered in the Workshop in two Technical Sessions. Speakers were eminent experts with long experience in design, technologies and construction of cement concrete roads.  The Technical Session on Design and Construction of Concrete Roads was chaired by Shri P L Bongirwar, Adviser, Mumbai-Pune Expressway and that on Quality Assurance and New Technologies for Concrete Roads by Sh V K Sinha, Secretary General, Indian Roads Congress.  The Workshop concluded with a Panel Discussion and summation  of recommendations. The Moderator of the Panel Discussion was Dr L R Kadiyali.
