Integrated I T Solutions (ITS)

 

 

NCB is equipped with modern IT infrastructure having fully functional centralized internet and e-mail facility through single Broadband (512 kbps) connectivity. An intranet site is also operational for the benefit of NCB officials. (pic of computer center)

 

Publication (PBL)

 

Information on technologies and services of NCB is disseminated through NCB publications regularly.  NCB publications received appreciation from readers as these have compared well with international ones.

 

Seminars and Conferences (SMC)

 

NCB has been organizing national and international seminars and exhibitions from time to time.  The 9th International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement held in November 1992 was organized by NCB, for the first time in this part of the world.  Besides several international events organized by NCB, the biennial series of NCB International Seminar on Cement and Building Materials has since come of age and the cement, building materials and construction industries look forward to participation in the same with interest.  The next 10th NCB International Seminar has been scheduled to be held in November 2007.

 

Industrial Information and Data Bank (INF)

 

NCB library at Ballabgarh Unit serves as the information centre for cement, other building materials and construction industries at the national level.  Some of the important features of the Library are:

 

·       Holding of about 45710 documents and received 135 journals. 

·       Bibliographic database of over 32950 records for interactive searches is being constantly updated and used by NCB scientists as well as cement and user industries. 

·       Internet connection for surfing by library staff as well as scientists and engineers.

·       Membership of 14 Indian and Overseas professional institutions.

·       The Automation System enabling to perform the primary library functions like acquisition/ordering system, cataloging system, circulation system, serial control, articles indexing and Online public access catalog (OPAC) etc more efficiently has been procured.

International Linkages/ Collaboration Programme (INL)

 

NCB has been actively interacting and liaising with a number of international bodies and exchanging knowledge and experience particularly in the area of cement and building materials.  Presently being pursued MoUs are:

 
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Verein Deutscher Zementwerke (VDZ), Germany represented by Chief Executive, Dr Martin Schneider for co-operation in R&D in cement manufacture and application including process technology, environmental protection, performance of cement, basic concrete materials and concrete technology, performance evaluation of concrete, construction technology, environmental compatibility of cement and concrete, sustainability of buildings with concrete and methods of measurement and testing.

 
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NCB and Mafeking Cement (Pty) Ltd, South Africa appointing NCB as technical consultant for implementation of a cement project from concept to commissioning.

 
  • MoUs with China Building Materials Academy (CBMA) and Tianjin Cement Design & Research Institute (TCDRI).  Some of the areas identified for mutual co-operation are new cements & products, design of energy efficient cement plants including co-generation of power, development of waste utilization technologies and software development pertaining to cement industry.

 

Image Building (IMB)

 

Image Building (IMB) programme carries out dissemination/propagation of important institutional initiatives and achievements to the masses in general, and industry in particular through print and electronic media and advertisements in press, trade journals, periodicals, souvenirs, etc.  The in-house Quarterly publication “NCB Newsletter” is also used as an information carrier of NCB activities to the industry.

Q1      How can we procure your publications?

A1       NCB publications can be obtained against advance remittance, by sending a demand draft, for the due amount, drawn in favour of National Council for Cement and Building Materials, payable at Faridabad or New Delhi.  Order Form available on the website may be used for communicating your requirements.

 

Q2     Are your publications available with booksellers?

A2     NCB publications are normally not available with booksellers.

 

Q3      How can we participate in the 10th NCB International Seminar scheduled to be held in November 2007?

A3      Details of the 10th NCB International Seminar are available on NCB website: ncbindia.com.  You can register online, followed by payment in respect of the registration fee.  For participation in Exhibition, releasing advertisement in the Special Publication and associating as a sponsor, kindly write to us specifying your interest.

 

Q4     Can we submit our papers for the Seminar online?

A4     On receiving acceptance of the abstract, you may prepare the manuscript as          er the prescribed guidelines (to be hosted on website shortly) and submit the          ame as an e-mail attachment.

 

Q5     You have wealth of information in your library.  How to benefit from your          collection?

A5      a)      In case you provide the full details of the book of periodicals in         respect of the pages required by you, we shall be glad to supply         photocopies of the same, if it does not violate the copyright.

 

          b)       You can also take benefit of our bibliographic database of over 35,000 records of articles, identified by our experts by scanning the periodicals received by us from 1988 onwards.  We can conduct searches to provide you the list of articles available in our database on the specific subject of your interest.  You may kindly indicate the key words for which searches are  to be conducted.  In case, subsequently, you are interested to procure full articles relating to any of the titles sent to you, the same will be supplied to you us at 5(a) above.

 

                  Nominal service charges will be applicable for the above services.
